Design Files: Georgian Lover's Eye

From years of collecting Antique Jewelry, Alexis had a deep fascination with the 1800's Georgian Lover's Eye. However, he realized he had never seen an original that featured a Black or an Asian eye.. anything other than white. He saw a clear opportunity to create a more contemporary version with broader representation.

Private and mysterious, Georgian Lover’s Eyes were only identifiable by those who exchanged these pieces with each other. A “just between us”, kind of vibe. Historically these rare momentos commonly involved the notion of winning affection, displaying scandalous love or serving as an echo from the past.

Alexis and artist Linda Mordan, collaborated to design original hand-painted eyes, in a range of races, to bring their presence to life. The paintings were then replicated and set in an enamel and 14k gold plated finish. The ‘In My Dreams’ series challenges the history of limited representation in jewelry by showcasing those who have always been a part of our world. These pieces are a favorite of Alexis’ and to him, the most sentimental in the Fall collection.
