Antique Ninth Plate Ambrotype in Leather and Velvet Traveling Case
This Victorian ambrotype features an older woman with slightly tinted cheeks in a wonderful white bonnet and collar. It is in a handsome traveling case with ornate pressed leather, velvet and a gilt frame. It is in very nice condition with its swing clasp intact. Ambrotypes are less common than daguerreotypes or tintypes. These photos are positive images printed directly onto glass. They are backed with dark fabric or paper. Ninth plate refers to the size.
