Here are some pictures from a recent trip to Central Park with a friend, Brad Goreski from Rachel Zoe. I decided to show him the disco roller skaters near the 72nd St entrance.
It’s kind of weird since it’s been going on for 15 years and the same skaters are still there. When it first started it wreaked of “old New York”, but as it has matured it’s been sucked into marketing and main stream. It still has its “freak” component which is worth watching and the music is major.
This was the scary background percussionist with a rattler and a “one arm” prop.
Chic girl exploring the rink for the first time. I think she was from L.A.
This lady is a classic. She’s around 65 years old and does splits on her skates. She’s a little camera shy… Thus the hand in my face.
Another classic on the rink. He is the King Poo-Ba and has ruled for 15 years.
This is his Throne/Bike.
