It’s Pronounced “Bama”

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

Here are some images from a trip I took a little while back to the south in Decatur, Alabama.

One of the amazing things about smaller cities/towns in the U.S. is you get to experience Middle America from the past and the present.

New Image8An old fashioned hamburger joint. The best burgers in town!

New Image12Amongst all the Victorian and Mid-Century houses was this unbelievable gem of a house. It was a pure example of Bauhaus art which originally was born in Germany in the mid 1920′s. This house stood out like a sore thumb. Apparently it had been owned by an older queen who had passed away and now it’s being remodeled. I think most people in the town were still shocked by the house and not finding it as desirable as I find it.

Summer Vacation

New Image

I just spent 5 days in Kaui in Hawaii at the St. Regis. Hawaii is such an amazing place because of the natural surroundings, the water, the smell of mango trees and the mountains.

I needed the sun to beat me down into submission so I could do nothing but sleep and relax. In addition, the St. Regis is great. They’ve brought a Jean Georges restaurant to Hawaii and all the delicious delectables he makes. This gave me something to look forward to in the evening… because I’m a little piggy.

Gay Pride in San Francisco

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

I was in San Francisco for a day and it happened to be Gay Pride. Their gay pride is slightly different from New York’s. They have more “organic” floats and are more environmentally conscious.

Here are some photos that I took that day:

New Image1An older sweet gentlemen couple. It’s nice to see older couples who are aging gracefully together.

New Image4Homage to Leigh Bowery.

New Image3A hard looking tranny who was a security guard.

New Image5Some young kids having fun.

New Image9A beautiful young couple.
