Come on by!

I was introduced to Michael Angel by the girls at Vogue. He has the geniune excitement and enthusiasm of young designer which is great tos ee. His hand made silk prints are so artistically designed.
This season he magnified jewels and cut stones to create a pattern in silk. We continued his clothing with strong sculptural cuffs and clip on earrings in primary metallic colors.

On a completely different note- I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving and stuffs themselves silly! More to come from me next week.

The Large Bib or “The multi-layered style necklace” continues to rank high on the “hen” for Fall. In editorial shoots in magazines stylists are layering 3 large necklaces on top of each other to get the scale they are looking for.
If you want to make a statement, without wearing a ton of different necklaces, here are a few suggestions…

I collaborated with Michael Kors for his Spring 2010 show. The idea was to create a collection that was distinctly futuristic and yet retro at the same time. I looked to Woody Allen’s 1973 film ‘Sleeper’ for inspiration. The film is a perfect example of that aesthetic- it’s the perception of what the future might look like through the eyes of someone who is now in the past.

The pieces were created from hand carved clear lucite and include oversized bead collars and smooth streamlined cuffs.
Watch this video. She’s so major!

I collaborated with stylist Patti Wilson on Dennis Basso’s Spring 2010 show. We have worked together for 10 years and Patti continues to inspire me. She is consistent in her vision, always combining a hard edge with touch of feminity.

Her work reminds me of the German club scene pre WWII. Always a bit decadent, sexual with an edge but soulful too.
She has worked with Steven Klein forever for Italian Vogue and styled the campaigns for Dolce, Armani and Valentino.
When I’m designing I will sometimes make something and think “Patti will love this!”.
For Dennis we mixed a mostly feminine floral, soft feel with an unexpected “Mad Max” topping.

These are some photos of Alicia Keys from when she was in New York for different public appearances (106 & Park, Gucci Party and Us Weekly) and wore this Swarovski studded spiked cuff I designed. She looks amazing.
